I met Kauna, Dr K, when I moved to my apartment at the Hamlet. Sweet November would bark and try to squeeze under our divider. We started talking over the railing and that was the beginning of a great friendship. Kauna loved coming over to my “Flat”. She said it was calming and serene for her. We talked a lot about everything and nothing. She cooked for just about our whole floor, and I would love her spicy dishes. I would tell her, my portions were the amount she eats, I want more, and we would laugh. I invited her to my family Christmas Party. I can’t tell you how many times she thanked me. She loved to give and make people smile. My favorite times was when I would take her shopping and she would say, Aloha, to everyone we walked by. They would smile and say hello back. I am saddened by her passing but I know she is happy now. Her blue butterflies will be flying around her, and she can run through the flowers she loved so much. She took care of my plants, one time and she named them all and put them with the ones that liked each other. It made her laugh when I told her she had to stop by and talk to them. Rest in peace, Sweet Lady. I will miss you. Love, Miss Annie
